The Key Difference: How Each Payment Works

PayID is a direct bank-to-bank transfer using Australia's NPP infrastructure. You open your bank app, send money to the casino's PayID handle (an email or phone number), and the transfer arrives instantly. The casino at no point has any access to your banking credentials or account.

POLi works differently. When you select POLi at checkout, you're redirected to a POLi-hosted page where you select your bank and then log into your internet banking. POLi reads your account details and initiates the transfer on your behalf. It's technically a screen-scraping service — you're giving your internet banking credentials to a third party.

Several Australian banks have restricted or removed POLi access precisely because of this credential-sharing model. CommBank removed POLi support in 2023. Check whether your bank still supports POLi before selecting it — a failed POLi deposit can temporarily lock down your internet banking session at some institutions.

Bottom line: PayID is the better option in every material way for casino banking. The only scenario where POLi makes sense is if your bank hasn't yet joined NPP and doesn't support outbound PayID transfers — in that case POLi may be your only instant bank option until your bank upgrades.

Which Casinos Support Both

All 10 casinos on our list accept PayID. POLi support varies — Bizzo and National Casino both offer it alongside PayID. If POLi is your only option, check the cashier page of the specific casino before registering.
