How PayID Works at Online Casinos

PayID is Australia's instant bank transfer system. This guide covers how deposits and withdrawals actually work at AU casino sites, what to expect, and what can go wrong.

What PayID Actually Is

PayID is a lookup service built on top of Australia's New Payments Platform (NPP) — the real-time interbank network that launched in 2018. It lets you link a simple identifier (your mobile number, email address, or ABN) to your bank account so other people can send you money without knowing your BSB and account number.

When you pay a casino via PayID, your bank sends an instant transfer directly to the casino's bank account. The casino never sees your banking credentials — they only see the completed transaction appear in their account.

The key point: PayID is not a payment processor or a third party sitting between you and your bank. It is Australian banking infrastructure. The same security and authentication standards that apply to any bank transfer apply here.

Depositing at a Casino via PayID — Step by Step

Go to the cashier

Log into your casino account and navigate to Deposit. Select PayID from the payment methods list.

Note the casino's PayID

The casino will display their PayID handle — usually an email address or phone number — and the exact deposit amount to send.

Open your banking app

Go to Pay Anyone or New Transfer in your bank app. Select PayID as the transfer type and enter the casino's PayID handle.

Enter the amount and send

Enter the exact amount shown and confirm with your bank's authentication (FaceID, fingerprint, or PIN).

Funds land within 60 seconds

Your casino balance updates automatically. No codes to enter, no confirmation emails to wait for.

Bonus auto-applies

If you're claiming a welcome bonus, it applies automatically once the deposit clears — no coupon code required at most sites.

Important: Always transfer the exact amount shown in the cashier. Some casinos use the amount itself to match your deposit to your account. Sending a different amount can delay crediting while support manually reconciles it.

PayID Withdrawal Times — What to Expect

Withdrawals work in reverse — the casino sends a bank transfer to your PayID-linked account. The transfer itself is instant once sent, but approval time varies significantly by casino.

In our live tests across all 10 casinos on this list, withdrawal times ranged from under 15 minutes (Wild Tokyo) to around 18 hours (Goldenbet, which routes via standard bank transfer rather than NPP). Most sites fell in the 30-minute to 2-hour range for PayID-specific withdrawals.

Security — What the Casino Can and Can't See

This is the main reason PayID has overtaken credit cards for AU casino deposits. When you pay via PayID:

  • The casino sees only the completed transfer in their account — amount, timestamp, and your name as it appears with your bank
  • They never see your BSB, account number, or card details
  • They cannot initiate any transfer from your account — the money flow is one-directional unless you request a withdrawal
  • Your bank's full authentication stack (biometrics, device verification, 2FA) protects every payment

Which Banks Support PayID for Casino Deposits

PayID is supported by all major Australian banks and most smaller institutions. The following have been confirmed working in our tests:

  • Commonwealth Bank (CommBank app)
  • Westpac (including St. George, Bank of Melbourne, BankSA)
  • ANZ
  • NAB
  • ING
  • Macquarie Bank
  • Suncorp
  • Bendigo Bank
  • Bank Australia
  • Up Bank
  • Revolut Australia

Some smaller credit unions and building societies that haven't upgraded to NPP may not support PayID outbound transfers — if your bank's app doesn't show a PayID option, check with them directly.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

Deposit not credited after 10 minutes

Contact casino live chat with your bank transfer receipt (screenshot showing the transaction ID, amount, and timestamp). Most casinos can manually credit within minutes once you provide proof of transfer.

PayID handle not recognised when sending

Casino PayID handles occasionally change. Return to the cashier and check the current handle — don't reuse one from a previous deposit without verifying it's still active.

Withdrawal sent to wrong account

PayID withdrawals go to whichever account is linked to your PayID identifier. If you've changed banks and updated your PayID, funds will go to the new account. If the casino has a different PayID on file, contact support before requesting withdrawal.

This guide covers how PayID functions at offshore online casinos accepting Australian players. The casinos reviewed on this site hold offshore licences. Playing at offshore casinos is a personal decision — we don't provide legal advice. Gambling involves financial risk. 18+ only.
